As another CES fades into the Las Vegas sunset, we take a look at the stand-out smartphones from the show that will shape the 2015 mobile landscape. Though several new smartphones were expected from the mobile giants like Samsung, Sony and Nokia, they didn't make a remarkable presence in the smartphone category during this year's CES. However, there are many other brands that did steal the show.
LG G Flex 2
The LG G Flex 2, voted as the Best Phone released at the CES 2015, is equipped with a profile thickness of 0.3-0.4 inches, weight of 152 grams, 5.5-inch touchscreen and a remarkable 23 degree arc, has grabbed the attention of the mobile fanatics.
The device, which is available in platinum silver and flamenco red color schemes, has an improved slick protective coating on the back of the phone for mending everyday scratches faster. One of the biggest improvements with the device is its display. With a resolution of 1080p, the screen has a higher pixel density of 403ppi resulting in a noticeably sharper display. The Gorilla Glass touchscreen is more durable in this model.
As for the technical side, the device has a powerful Snapdragon 810 quad-core processor from Qualcomm. The 64-bit octa-core CPU has a clock speed of 2GHz, and promises smooth game play and graphics rendering. Powering the handset is a 3000mAh battery with improved performance. LG assures that this battery would charge faster and can regain 50% of its power in 40minutes after complete draining.
As for the OS, Android 5.0 Lollipop has been used with LG's own user interface layered on top. The LG G Flex 2 has additional features such as KnockOn and KnockCode gestures(which lets you wake up the mobile with various tapping gestures directly from a sleeping lock screen) and a new GlanceView (which can be activated by a downward swipe from the top of the screen, allowing you to check the time, date and any missed notifications, without having to wake up the handset).
The smartphone is enabled with two different storage capacities (16 or 32GB), and includes either 2 or 3GB of RAM depending on the availability, and also has a microSD card slot for an expandable memory of about 2TB.
The G Flex 2 has a 13 MP primary cam that can record full HD videos and a 2.1 MP secondary cam.
With the G Flex 2, LG might lead the way in terms with the curved smartphone. By consciously making the device higher-end, LG has given the users more options to hook them in.
