Nokia Lumia 525 – Review

To become the best selling Windows Phone in the world.

Presently, Nokia Lumia 520 is the world's best Windows Phone seller. Since its arrival on 22nd April, 2013, Nokia has been roaring as a key player in Windows Phone market. This might be one of the major reasons that led to the acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft. Impressively, the Lumia 520 has one-third of the current Windows Phone market.

Well, it's time for its successor. Nokia knew that very well and launched the Lumia 525. Let's check out the all new entry-level smartphone of Nokia under the Lumia line-up.

Design
There is no much difference. The Lumia 525 is designed based on the Lumia 520 only. So it almost looks like its predecessor. But, Nokia has added a dedicated camera shutter button, which certainly helps the users to take a quick snap in urgent situations. The world is moving faster and even faster. Changes that are taking place in Nokia and with its device give a hopeful tomorrow for the Finnish company. The dimension of the Lumia 525 is 119.9 x 64 x 9.9 mm and weigh only 124 grams. After all, the gadget is very handy.

Nokia Lumia 525

Display
It comes with a 4 inches IPS LCD Super sensitive touchscreen with a resolution of WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) and 235 ppi of pixel density. Seems like the gadget is packed fine for entry-level smartphone seekers. Moreover, features like Brightness control, Orientation sensor, and Lumia Color profile are there. Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Proximity sensor are the sensors of the Lumia 525.

Processor and Performance
The Lumia 520 was out of performance due its ordinary processor and poor RAM. This time the Lumia 525 is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Dual-core 1 GHz processor, but along with improved RAM of 1GB from 512 MB. It will certainly fasten the performance of the device.

Opeating System
The Lumia 525 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS. So the gadget has got some limitations in the Apps area as you can't find certain apps. There you may curse a Windows powered phone. Well, it's much friendly for those who don't care about apps and all. They just use and go. Apart from other OSes, the Windows Phone 8 OS has a cool UI. There you will fall in love with the device.

Storage
Nokia offers 8GB internal memory and is expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. There is a free cloud space of 7GB. So, you have more than enough memory space here and you can store whatever you want.

Camera
Here you may get irritated. It comes with the same 5 MP camera without flash. Does it cost too much to add an LED flash on the rear side of a mobile phone? It's a pathetic move by Nokia. The company is yet to learn from failures. Many has left the Lumia 520 for not having flash and Nokia is repeating the same mistake again. Meanwhile, there is no front camera coupled.

Battery Backup
It comes with the same 1430 mAh battery but with better battery backup. Now it is 340 hours standby time (2G), 16.9 hours talk time on 2G and 10.6 hours on 3G.

Nokia Lumia 525

Price
Lumia 525 is reasonably priced at Rs. 10,399. It's of course affordable to almost all smartphone lovers.

Verdict
The Lumia 525 is the next step from the Lumia 520. Of course, the device is much better than its predecessor. Still, Nokia could have added better things. For instance, it lacks LED Flash, and comes in the same design. Moreover, you can't go for so many apps just like you see in Android and iPhone devices. Expect this, the Lumia 525 is a good device as an entry level smartphone.

Pros
Boosted up 1GB RAM
Reasonably priced
Better battery backup

Cons
No flash
The same design of the Lumia 520
