Google Nexus 5X might be the cheapest way to get to Android M

As announced earlier Google has unveiled the latest Nexus offering- the Nexus 5X Android M smartphone what is likely to be the successor of the Google Nexus 5 . The Nexus 5X is priced at $379 (approx Rs 25,000) for the 16GB model and $429 (approx Rs 28,500) for the 32GB model. These phones are up for pre-order in the US starting today. The pre-order and launch dates for India has not yet been revealed.



The LG made Nexus 5X comes equipped with a 5.2 inch display with a screen resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The screen has in fact gone bigger and is layered with Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 for extra protection when compared to the previous Nexus 5 but has retained the same screen resolution. The handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Processor which comes bundled with 2GB of RAM space.

Based on the latest version of the Android Marshmallow out of the box, the Nexus 5X sports a 12.3 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, IR laser-assisted autofocus and dual-LED flash. A 5MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture is also on board for all the selfie lovers. The rear camera supports slow motion video recording as well. Backed by a 2,700mAh battery the handset features a fingerprint scanner on the rear. The dimensions of the handset measures up to 147.0 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm and weighs 136 grams.

The Google Nexus 5X supports an Android Sensor Hub which is much similar in function to the co-processor in Apple phones. This Android Sensor Hub which is linked to the camera sensors detects motion on the handset with the intention of reducing the power consumption thereby improves the battery life. The color variants available for purchase are Carbon Black, Quartz White and Ice Blue . The connectivity options on this Google product includes 4G LTE / 3G, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2×2 MIMO dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C.

According to Google, the Android Sensor Hub will track “sensor fusion, activity recognition, gesture recognition, movements and low power times.” For instance, the Google Nexus 5X will be able to light up the display, the moment you pick up the phone by tracking the gyro sensor.
