Samsung may have already started S9 development

Samsung Galaxy S9 hinted!

According to Korean website ,thebell, Samsung may have already started developing Samsung S9 while S8 was launched just weeks back. The report also suggests that the phone will be launched in the first half of 2018 and the code name for the project is STAR. It also speculates that the development may have started 3-4 months earlier.

Samsung Electronics recently confirmed that the standard model code name for Galaxy S9 series is STAR while the code name for the bigger variant is STAR2. Samsung has a tradition of putting a code name for its models before development starts. Code names often imply product specifications or points of orientation.

Recently, it was reported that Samsung and Qualcomm may have started work on the chipset that would power the Galaxy S9. The chipset, named Snapdragon 845, is expected to sport a 7nm fabrication process and might be manufactured by Samsung or TSMC. Both Samsung are TSMC are working on the production of 7nm chipsets since last year.

The S9 is expected to sport an improved version of the infinity display which is currently being housed in the S8. It is also expected to have a dual rear camera and front mounted fingerprint sensors. The reports also suggest that since the development phase is significantly ahead mass production will start from end of the year.
