Last day Andy Rubin, the founder of the new smartphone company Essentials unveiled their first smartphone to the world. The Smartphone introduced timeless design on top of a premium titanium metal housing and a bezel-free edge-to-edge display.
Essential have a pretty faster processor, RAM, good camera and have all the specifications a premium smartphone must have, but what happens when you look closer to the front camera is, a cut-out hole right through the display. In most Android phones, the top position of the screen is often taken up by notifications, and the hole will be less likely to make hindrance to users. But we are really in the dark about how the smartphone will work when someone watches a movie in landscape mode.
Even though Essentials provide a smart 360-degree camera and have latest design and technology with the likes of Apple, Samsung and other big sharks outside. This front camera hole problem may cause serious damage, but the engineers at Essentials would have been aware of this and would have done something with it to provide smooth usage without having to compromise with a full-size image cutting right through the sides.
We have seen smartphone manufacturers experimenting with the display like the curved display of Samsung Edge and the bezel-free look of the Samsung S8 and so on, but a hole right in front of the screen seems too far fetched for a new design. We can hope that Andy Rubin must have plans for that one too.
